Hello All,

My children are interested in learning Role playing.

Now my Role playing experiences is very limited, I am primarily a wargamer.

What would recommend for someone getting started with zero base.

Thank you

Get the Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set for 5th Edition. It will walk you through what you need to know.

I would second getting the 5e D&D starter.

You can also download the 5e D&D rules for free at:

If you go with 5e then I would recommend this YouTube channel for some great instruction:

RPGnow.com has RPG's made for introducing kids to gaming.
Here is one of my favorite games based on Basic D&D.

All you need for dice are D20 & D6

Ed the Two Hour Wargames guy24 Feb 2018 9:29 p.m. PST

Try Swordplay from Two Hour Wargames. It's free and easy for kids to learn, especially the 2d6 Sword and Sorcery part.

If they like it then try 2 Hour Dungeon Crawl.

The nice thing about both of them and all THW products is you can play together against the game and don't need a DM.

There's some rules called Maze Rats designed to be used by 5th graders (but can be enjoyed by people of all ages) and they're pay what you want (free!)
