I just finished the novel "Eight" about a similar lost city discovered in the Amazon. Very much a modern pulp tale featuring the lost city shrouded in a giant web that is home to "megarachnids," a nest of dog-sized social spiders. It sounds a lot better than it is. It becomes something of a mess at certain points. |

Those sand fleas scare me most. Snakes you can do a lot about. But those sand fleas and the mosquitoes that drop off on your skin the hitchhiking eggs of flesh-eating flies are harder to keep away from you 24/7. Dan |
