Not everyones cup of tea I know. but ……

I have managed to finish off my two Travel Battle sets, purchased almost a year ago after the launch at Salute. I think it may be useful now and that it will live up to it's title as we prepare for our move to Spain!

The four plastic terrain tiles can be laid out in a variety of configurations and occupies a space of just 20"x 20", the grid is 1" squares. I must admit I find the tiles very pleasing on the eye with the winding roads, farms and outbuildings, fields and hills etc. All I did was to very carefully drybrush the green plastic with Vallejo Buff, paint the roads in Vallejo Flat earth and the fields the same before drybrushing with Flat Earth/Off White to add highlights. The figures were all black base coated and the colours carefully picked out, leaving some black to add depth, my usual small scale style. For variety I painted one French heavy cavalry unit as Dragoons, a simple paint job that seemed to work OK. I have – for the time being – left the plastic bases a flat green, but that may change.

So here we are, two sets that fit comfortably in one of the TB boxes. 16 bases of infantry, 8 bases of cavalry, 4 artillery and 4 Generals per side. The sets also include nice blue and red dice plus a set of somewhat simple, fast play rules that I'm about to try out.

Cheers,

Lee.

Wonderful painting and photography. Did I read right that the whole display just measures 20"x20"? Or is it four tiles each 20x20?

If the former then truly incredible work……..

(Sorry, after posting I now note your title. OK this is two sets together. Still amazing, looks far bigger)

I do hope you-know-who get to see this. This product has not been met with universal acclaim and this finish could be very encouraging. By far the best I have seen, including their own website.

Shame about the cuff slash buttons in brass though and should be three not four obviously.

Excellent job on the sets, very tempting, I'll see how much cash I've got left over at Salute.

I too have this set. Fun to paint and I thought fun to play. Here is my blog entry when my set was half done…..as you can see, even a less talented painter such as myself can get pleasing results with this…..

Deadhead, each tile is 10x10 so yes, Lee's display is 20x20 total….

I've also been infected by the "TB-Virus" and even done conversions – Prussians and Russians so far, Austrians to follow. Sorry, no pics available for the uploading process necessary on TMP.
I wonder if other people have made conversions, too.

And I know what I'm saying when I call it a fabolous paint job in the eye candies we've been provided with by grambo.

Parrskool- Cheers, that's very generous, do you not like it?
Where do I send the cheque, are you in LA9?

parrskool23 Feb 2018 10:01 a.m. PST

The scale is a bit too small for my old eyes. Yes LA9 (Cumbria) . How do we contact "off-board"?

foxweasel23 Feb 2018 10:12 a.m. PST

Do you live in Ca,Bu,K. If you do I'll send you a cheque, 16 quid ok?

It's too small and plastic to look that good! You are a front for the Perrys, custom making a larger set, larger box, and using over-sized novelty dice. Confess! I was about to sell my set, but am now reconsidering…

Are the figures 6mm scale for these sets?

green beanie04 Apr 2018 1:17 a.m. PST

I see they are 8mm. Perry plan to do any more? Such as French vs Austrian or Prussian?

von Winterfeldt04 Apr 2018 1:40 a.m. PST

@grenadier corporal

They look great, well done
