Draug were a bit more than just zombies. Some had ability to reason, talk and often had the purpose of seeking revenge. They weren't mindless flesh-eaters.

Other way around, actually. If you originally 'killed' them, they could get a sleazy personal injury lawyer to come after you… ;-)
