Helmet. Easier to discard while you run for your life. Can also be used for a food bowl/cooking utensil. |

Hauberk, worth much more than a helm alone. I dare say you could pick up a discarded helm on a battlefield fairly easily! |

If I was fighting with a shield and spear in a a shield wall, I would want a helm. If I was fighting with a two handed axe, I would want a hauberk. Also, cooking in your helmet is a bad idea as in some cases it can weaken it. |

Helmet. Shield protects the body.
Far easier to protect your body than your head from a random blow. |

Helm. Protect the head, and run a heck of a lot faster than the guy in the hauberk chasing you. And since I would be using a longbow, I don't need the maille messing up my aim.

Helmet. You can cook with it. Protects you from the weather as will as the enemy. You can dig with it and in a pinch it makes a decent weapon. |
