I would love to add a 6mm star fort from paper terrain to my Napoleonic gaming table, but alas, I can not cut, paste or assemble any of his (paper terrain) building in 15mm scale with out them look like something the dog did in my back yard. Any one know of a place to purchase an assembled one from paper terrain some where or does any one have one they wish to part with? Let me know and thanks in advance for your help. |

In my wanderings through various websites I came across a free 4-bastion starfort which looks scalable to 6mm. The instructions are in German…. At least it won't be costly to experiment (and, if you're gaming sieges, you will need sundry damaged/breached walls gates etc if it doesn't work too well). I haven't tried this one myself. link |

I built that fortress. It is easy to build. Look here: link |

Interesting- I have given some thought to building a small fortress fora siege game, but the logistics of fortress-building are daunting! Not just the curtains and bastions, but the covered way, glacis, outworks…..it adds up fast! |

Altefritz, is it 6mm scale? What material did you use in the build? Cardstock or paper? |

One of the things that has engaged me about fortresses on the table is the relationship between ground scale and the size of the model. We all have the problem that the height of a figure is many yards on the ground scale. I came across this discussion of the principles of fortress design on my travels: PDF link It seems to me that (if I have read this correctly) that a base dimension for a star fort of about 300 (groundscale) yards between the points of 2 bastions is something manageable. |
