Day one of our game. We had eight folks show up in a snowstorm to play or observe.
With the large gaming space we were able to lay out an aerial assault quite nicely. Several squadrons of aerial machines head towards their enemy's fortress.
For their part arthropod defenders stream from the underground warrens in nearly limitless numbers.
The air assault doesn't reach the surface without incident. Flying Lancers melee with the incoming troop ships and gunboats and cause serious damage, as well as knocking several machines from the air.
Heavy aerial gunships hover just in range of the massive Hive walls. They stand off and blast unit after unit of Hive creatures. But can even this amount of firepower clear the horrible creatures from the areas in which the all too vulnerable troops will land? Stand by for a report tomorrow! |

Fantastic looking game! Wish I could have been there to see it. The Hive structure really looks the part. |

Did you have Ride of the Valkyries playing as the air assault went in? (For Vietnam games I do, because I play Air Cav) |

I'd hope you put up pictures of the troops battling the bugs and forming a beachhead. Looks awesome, keep up the good work |

I have no idea what this is but I like it a lot! Oh, Terry, I know he's broken your heart, but your word hasn't gotten to EVERYONE. Not for lack of your trying… ;->= Picture two looks like a buffet table….! I've often teased him about the use of the clear, round tray/plates, especially filled with troops lost in combat. "Looks more like hor d'oeuvres than hors de combat." Doug |

"Sigh" Beast I hope you are going to have a swell time in Disney missing many, many gaming events. There was room at the buffet table for you but you had to go to the Magic Kingdom instead. You are just jealous I found really cheap movement trays! |

I hope to run this scenario at Origins this year, possibly with a few extra surprises. I have put in my forms but have not yet heard back. The idea will be to leave it up and run for five sessions Wednesday afternoon, Thursday afternoon all day Friday and Saturday late morning. Victory conditions will be the destruction of the three Royal bugs, which will appear at some point Friday or Saturday. Of course if the entire human force gets eaten I think even if the Royals are dead we'd call it a draw. |

Plasticviking3: I'm sure Terry will be giving more details shortly, but I think some things are scratch, some are printed by an associate of his, and there are some conversions. Difficult to make out for the smoke, but the items of the third picture are converted/covered Laserburn Scorpion Air Landers. link I'd search up the previous WIP posts of Terry's, but TMP's search engine has been sputtering out on me of late. I use a variety of different methods. A number of the models started out as other things (the aforementioned Laserburn Skorpions) and were converted. the other two small lander designs
were kit bashed and are now available in resin from Craig at Gaming Models. And so are these ornithopters link I have used everything from Airfix LVTs to Gaming Model Landing Craft Assaults and a 1/72 scale WW1 German Albatross fighter. Smaller parts come from all over the place. Fielding the unarmed landers was a game balance choice. Those craft are faster than the others, but have big issues if they get into combat. It forces the human players to make some decisions with them. Do they try and run in before the aliens can get in the way, do they give them a close escort to keep the bugs off, or do they orbit them out of reach and use them once the defenses have been weakened? You can see lots more pictures here tsofian.deviantart.com/gallery In the future I hope to field these more advanced fighters
which have He 162, F4-F, P-39 and B-25 parts, as well as a vacuformed canopy. I am open to color schemes for these! The large fliers started as Disney toys. The ground vehicles didn't get to strut their stuff too much, but many are Kit Bashed and a number of these were remastered for resin casting. Craig has a number of these available. The Bug figures are mostly old sculpts from Scott Flower at GameTech (who made great Space 1889 ships). I hand cast hundreds of them. I also have a lot of Khurasan, Brigade, Rebel, Ravenforge and some others. The human troops are Flames of War, Blue Moon, TVAG and others. |
