I would think that the Chain Reaction system might be a good base set for X-Com, but the Ambush Alley mechanics should work well also.

I do love Xcom, and have been wanting a rules set that would be ideal for it- I'll be watching this for sure.

Would be great for some additional details- I had thought about designing my own Xcom sort of game, as I am sure the IP/ copyright would feel a little shady about something published with it's official logo/ content etc.

You can also run with Infinity. Rules are free to download. Several different aliens to mess with, including some that can take over your own troops!

Infinity is very much XCom on the tabletop. IGOUGO but with reactions to anything you can see.

I think Unity Field Agent would work better than clash on the Fringe.
