Very interesting project and wish them the best.
HOWEVER.. I could not help but 'grin' when reading the FAQ's, someone asked 'if they could sell the 3D printed ships.." (assuming this was asked by one who has a printer).
The answer was of course "No" it was a licensed project.
Yet Shapeways is practically 'overrun' by those who over look if not simply ignore this fact (Copy & IP Rights) with virtually 100's of full 3D models and not just 'sections', that are printed and sold there.

Star Trek 'vessels' are possibly if not the most common that Ive seen.
It will be interesting to see how the next stage of 3D printing effects the gaming industry.

Sorry, but these cannot hold a candle to Printable Scenery's «The lost Ships».
