An account of our recent refight of the 3rd Battle of Krasnik (Russian/Austrian) 1914, played using 20mm armies and the Great War Spearhead rules.

Wow. A very interesting example of the type of battle that characterised the Eastern Front in 1914. Thanks for taking the time to post the AAR and photos, Robin. Looking forward to hearing how the replay/s go. As you mentioned, these scenarios can seem very straightforward at first but there was an historical reason why these battles took place where they did. These reasons, particularly by way of the terrain factors, often emerge only when you play the scenario through.

Robert
You are so right about how understanding of the terrain is developed so much better only once you play the game/refight the action. Historical decisions that on reading may at times seem nonsensical can become so much more readily understood.

Kind regards
