So, for health reasons, I dropped out of painting figures for a number of months. I had a stroke in October. Anyway, I finally am back together enough to do this again and went to the local game store to pick up some packs of flames of war figures. I discovered they have changed out their inventory to these new box sets, I guess for the new rules. Are they the same as the old packages? The old ones were in blister packs so you can see what you were getting in most packages, yet it looks like all the new ones are in boxes. I really don't give a care about the rules, I use the figures to play IABSM or another set that crosses my desk. If they have changed, were the old blister packs removed or are they still available? |

Well, this looks interesting. Bill, feel free to remove the computer stutter. It seems my computer just had a stroke, too. |

Not your fault, it's a server stutter on our end. |

Lol, Bill! It just seemed so perfectly fitting to happen to me. |

The old blisters were custom fitted to make a unit in the V3 books, giving the exact number of riflemen, command etc. How that fits in with IABSM, I don't know. |

Yes, glad you are feeling better. |

The Desert Rats and Afrika Korps infantry I bought last month came in blisters. Those came out new with the 4th edition launch. |

On the FOW online store it looks like they still have a lot of the old packaging for many things. They add (plastic) if the box now contains the newer plastic stuff. I suspect stores are only buying the newer items because they take up less space and might move more quickly. |

I think you are right Neal. I bet I'm seeing all plastic at the store. Apparently, they sent back the blisters or sold them in bulk to another retailer. That would suck, I would rather have resin/metal than the plastics. The new boxes felt a bit light to be metal. I'm not too happy to have to spend the kind of money they are asking to buy stuff completely sight unseen. Winston, while not an absolutely perfect fit, IABSM was written with those packages in mind. I.e, using FOW bases as is. So, I guess the question to ask for the future, who is making figures and vehicles that are comparable to V3 FOW? I liked the idea of supporting the local shop, but if they are not going to support me anymore, I guess the deal is sadly over. Also, thanks all for the kind words. It has been a struggle, but overall, I guess I'm a lucky one. |

The Warstore still has most of the blisters available online, but Battlefront is slowly transitioning everything to plastic. And usually larger formations. So a plastic box will contain a full TO&E company, instead of having to buy 3 platoons, weapons platoon, and company HQ blisters separately. |

That said, there are LOADS of 15mm makers, but most do not pre-package for Flames of War. So, QRF, for example, sell their infantry in packs of 8. But you have to figure out the right pack combination yourself. Old Glory sell in big bags of 30 (?). Again, they are very cheap, but do you need that many LMG teams? I hate plastic so have moved away from Battlefront miniatures. That said I have decent sized armies as it is… |

EJNashlll (and others) – I am in charge of distributing a miniatures collection of a friend who passed away recently. I have a large cardboard box of FOW and even some of the version 1 minis (when they were for the Battlefront game). Also Old Glory and others. After Wednesday, I'll know what I have still available for sale. Send an email to nealsmith1763<at>gmail<dot?com and I'll let you know what's still there and the price. :) |

Old Glory are in bags of 50. Cheap and good quality. Their only problem is that after building your "perfect army", you may have a lot of stuff left over. That's never been a problem with me. |

Skytrex do the Old Glory range in packs of 10 at no extra cost. |
