At 81, I still remember watching the newsreels when I was 4 years old in 1941 – and on through 1945. I remember the Chinese and the Russians as stalwart, noble allies against the Nazi's and the Japanese. This article appears today on one of my favorite news sites. She was a driver, and seems to have aggressively run over German anti-tank guns with her T-34! link Does anyone recognize the modern tank shown with the article? Certainly no T-34. GdeP |

I don't see a 'modern' tank anywhere in the video clip. The first tank looks like a PZ I and the rest are varieties of T34s. |

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and see the various articles. 'One of them is Nazis killer her husband…" to the right of the more modern tank picture. GdeP |

Yep … a PZ I and a bunch of T34s after that … And when you scroll down I too believe as Deep Horse, that is a PRC Type 99. That photo is from the Tiananmen Square "uprising" in '89 …

The tank in question is a Chinese Type 96 (note position of headlights). The Tiananmen Square Massacre was '89. No tank with a higher type (year) number could be present. The tanks in the iconic photo of one courageous individual stopping a column of tanks are most likely Type 69-II (note position of bore evacuator). |

Yes ! You are correct ! DOH ! I remember I was at Ft Bragg, NC, on a training exercise with elements of 10MTN and 82d. And we saw that pic in the paper, on TV, etc. It is a very iconic and evocative photo. I posted it in our TOC. Just as a reminder … the world was still a very dangerous place. And as we see … it remains so today … I usually go to GHQ for some weapons' ID. Type 96-II ghqmodels.com/store/rc4.html
