"The latest quarterly inspector general report for the US mission in Iraq and Syria confirms a string of on-the-ground reports that M1 Abrams battle tanks and other lethal equipment provided by the US government have ended up with the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU). The news adds credence to recent reporting by Iraq's Al-Ghad news agency that Abrams manufacturer General Dynamics has suspended maintenance support for 160 of its tanks amid allegations that the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) broke an agreement on their use…."

Not surprised. Our "allies" no longer surprise me. Same thing happens with all the public works equipment, supplies and money that we give them, destined for their "nation-building" projects.

Population of Iraq is 60-65% Shia Muslims – hardly surprising. Look at the early support for Sadr.

Neighbours don't like Shias – look at the cluster …s in Yemen and Syria and potential cluster … in Qatar – easy to have predicted that the only Shia regional power should be popular.

Mind you, four brigades of Iraqi troops including armour, artillery and air support were defeated by a rabble of ISIS Toyota 'apc's (this should never have been the result) so nine Abrams operated by a ragtag PMU may not be a very potent regional force.

To be really fair their maintenance sucks and we control spare parts. But in a pinch Mr. Trump could include them him his parade! H
