I noticed this:
auction
on eBay and it's got me wondering if old White Dwarf mags have much,if any, value. There doesn't seem much interest in this one, so far.

As it happens, I've got issues 2-7 of WD which I've intended putting on eBay but never bothered. Seeing the lack of interest in the one linked to, I'm wondering if there is a better selling venue for this kind of item.

Any suggestions?

I think it is a matter of fashion in demand. Try before Xmas and it might be easier. There are collectors who want originals of the very early ones (not reprints). I had stopped taking it by the issue you linked to so I do not consider it "early".

Hi

early issues always sell well. Later issues with Rogue trader stuff also sell well.

Wackmole9 – Hi – any ideas of better places to sell WD back numbers?

Yes, I imagine the "classic Warhammer / early RT" era would have the broadest appeal, but issues that early can't be all that easy to come by.

I started getting them in the #90's (just before 40K came out), and have collected spottily back to the single digits.

Just put them up and take a shot.

Some issues will sell better than others. Necromunda stuff may be in demand now or anything with a good terrain article or conversion article. Issues with special rules or special scenarios will also be popular, for instance the one issue with the Sisters of Battle Codex would sell in the $20 USDs.

I think I have the 1st 40 issues stashed away somewhere, the 1st 24 are even in White Dwarf binders. All pretty much before it went over to the Evil Empire grin

As haywire said, special interests could help find a buyer.

The ones I won't let go of for any price have Space Hulk scenarios and floor tiles or significant Space Marine/Epic content.

Take the time to describe the full contents and that of course they are in perfect condition. (You did take care of them, didn't you?)

I wonder if that issue with the foul, Cthulhu cover would be a good seller ? That thing still gives me the heebie jeebies !

Hi

What kind of condition are the issues? If solid condition Try E-bay first start at $60 USD each for 2-5, $40 USD each for 6,7. Next try some of the Face Book selling sites.

Well maybe for some during 1988 – 1996 which was the best years and prior to 1988.

Anything after 1998 the best thing to do with them is put them into the recycle bin.

Wackmole907 Feb 2018 3:46 p.m. PST

Recycle is great but first you should cut out all the cool terrain articles for future reference.

…seeks lady companion for adventure and romance. Must love gold, ale, and beating up greenskins. Chaos negotiable. NO ELVES.

The very early issues (pre-full colour covers) are worth a bit more – Issue 1 in particular, especially if it is the first printing (GW reprinted the very early issues due to selling out really quickly !)

The later ones are a couple of pounds at best – because the print run was much bigger and there are a lot of them about. Eventually they'll go up in value I guess (another 10-20 years maybe ?)

Recycle is great but first you should cut out all the cool terrain articles for future reference.

After 1998 those were rare, since GW wanted you to buy their Terrain and not be making any on your own.

Though those White Dwarf's did have lots and lots of petty photographs of the miniatures that GW wanted you to buy.

After 1998 the magazine went down hill very quickly and was more of pay for advertisement instead of a gaming magazine.

I have 1-12 in an original binder, but my son has veto'd any attempt to sell them … I take them into the local shop when I feel like winding up the staff ….

EricThe Shed10 Feb 2018 4:26 p.m. PST

I have the first 60 (minus a couple) if anybody wants to make me an offer
