Here are the traitor cousins of the assault marines I posted last week.

These guys might get a spin on the table top this weekend actually. I'm not sure what we are doing yet but it would be nice to get these guys and the other assault marines out for a clash of arms.

The figs are great. I do really wish they would do them in plastic. I'd happily pay the same price or more for plastic ones over the resin ones. I think they work out to about $10 USD a pop in resin, I'd pay $12 USD for hard plastic ones because of how much easier they would be to work with.

I was going to say "Star Wars' stormtroopers", but OK.

Very nicely done – notably the weathering!

Lovely Heresy marines as usual, Pictors.

Sadly, Tony Cottrell said at the Horus Heresy Weekender that there are no plans for further 30k plastics at this time.

I know. They said that last year too. From what I've heard from the local stores HH gaming really dropped off when 8th arrived.

I kind of wondered what would be the best way to go with HH. That is a lot of books to just update all of a sudden with 8th rules.

Sticking with 7th had a lot of advantages but the big drawback is that no one wants to play that clunky piece of Bleeped text ruleset anymore.

What would have been a better option would probably have been to publish a transition ruleset that would allow you to convert the stats from 7th to 8th for all the models and with it a big list of stats for the weapons. Or even just republish all the stats and rules changes for 8th in a very text heavy list format.

Pictors I would convert to 8th just by using the rule of closet fit, I even ported over enslavers using similar methods.

Go on you know you want to!

We actually use 3rd still so 7th isn't much of a switch.

Horus Heresy works well with 7th though.
As anyone who played Warhammer The Great War, knows- the system isn't bad without the crazy over-powered special rules.

I just find all the special rules in 7th, the differences between different types of close combat weapons (more than just power weapons, power fists and close combat weapons)and so forth a little too much for me to want to keep track of.

3rd was so much simpler and, until you started using tyranids, was very well balanced. For Astartes on Astartes it works very well.

We import some of the special rules and, when I get my hands on it, we might use the 7th edition rules from the book for HH.
