Chain of Command. I picked up Disposable Heroes II recently, hope to give it a run soon with my 20mm eastern front collection. Haven't found a "company" level game I like yet, Battlegroup probably nearest miss so far. |

Battleground WW2 if you can find the rules, the Toofatlardie rules are good. |

Chain of Command, platoon level actions. |

WR uses FOW Ver3.0. Ver 4.0 doesn't work due to the command radius rules with 20mm models plus I think the Ver4.0 roll out schedule and rules have issues still greatly unresolved. |

I ported a lot of ASL over to miniatures but if I had to pick an existing set it would be Rapid Fire. |
Joes Shop | 04 Feb 2018 4:44 p.m. PST |
Depends on the scale: Skirmish / 1:1 – Cross of Iron or Battle! 1 Base = 1 Squad / Section: CrossFire!. I routinely play ASL and have converted numerous scenarios to Crossfire! |

Battlegroup – the writers focus on creating fun gameplay that feels right for the period hits just the right spot for me – it also has one of the most novel mechanics I've ever encountered in a game that results in a steady flow of tense, nail-biting games. It has enough granularity that a skirmish with an infantry platoon can still make for an interesting game, but enough scaleability that it won't break down when you start having Platoons of tanks rolling around. |

Rapid Fire for simplicity. Panzergrenadier Deluxe for more of a thoughful game. |

Battleground World War 2. I was an early play-tester, and its still my "go to". My gang love the system and we always have a good time playing it. We have tried many and its the game we come back to. |

My favorite is Iron Ivan's Disposable Heroes- Original Flavor for 20mm scale. We usually play about a platoon or less with some armor, but we have played larger and smaller games. In this system, it is one miniature equals one men, but the squads move and fire together. It is a game that you can learn easily, but if you use real WWII tactics then the rule set will reward that. |

Battleground WWII. I have been playing for many years. And why are the rules are to find? link I've been carrying these rules for years. I am also impressed with the Battlegroup rules previously mentioned. Not sure if this has been asked but what are you after in a 20mm WWII game? Duane |

I think most rules are fairly scale agnostic these days, so there are no set of rules I play because they are good for 20mm. I play Chain of Command and Crossfire in 20mm and both work well, but I play them because I think they give a plausible historical outcome, that's my key criteria for picking a rule set. It's just coincidental that my miniatures are 20mm. |

Why does scale matter? – ie why would rules "made for" 28mm or 15mm not work for 20mm? |

Battlegroup for me. To a degree scale doesn't matter. However I always think that you are best going for a ruleset that the chosen scale has been written for. But that's just my opinion. |

We play 'Simultaneous Battlefront'; a heavily modified set of Battlefront:WW2 rules evolved over many years of play (currently using version 2.3) to make the games faster, more realistic and more fun. It allows us to fight anything up to and including regimental sized battles in 20mm. |
Thomas Thomas | 05 Feb 2018 3:43 p.m. PST |
Of course I'm highly partisan but I recommend Combat Command. One of our goals was to establish a 20mm rule set that would appeal to WWII history buffs but also those with lots of 20mm miniatures that would like an FOW balanced army type game with a large enough player base to find opponents. You can play it in 15mm – works fine – but we would like to establish a home for 20mm players. Will be running games at both NashCon and Historicon (just did a Bulge game at Siege of Augusta). Always enjoying meeting more 20mm gamers. Thomas J. Thomas Fame and Glory Games |
