Ever scratch-built anything like the Barsoomian buildings in the background of these Frazetta paintings?

If so, care to share photos and tips?

A good start would be the old Kryomek true 25mm dome buildings although they are scaled for 25mm they are much more suited to todays 15mm-18mm scale, with the addition of some cheap plastic Christmas decorations for the arabian style spires i think your be good to go… ☺

Those are cool. Frazetta was the king of evocative fantasy art. Whenever I read an R.E. Howard Conan story, my imagination defaults to Frazetta Hyborian images.

In the case of those buildings, I can't help you there, but those 'tear-shapes" might turn up at one of the craft chains. Christmas ornaments, as suggested above, might work for those spires.

What about building up the structure around a wooden or paper mache craft cone??

How about upside down cheap plastic champagne glasses?

I know I've seen onion-shaped plastic glasses somewhere.

I've converted 25mm Kroymek and others to 6mm by making smaller doors and windows, etc. …

I built a foamcore "palace" for my John Carter convention games &, as whill4 suggested, for the 4 corner towers I used Pringles cans topped with inverted unfinished Christmas ornaments from Hobby Lobby. These gave me that plump dome shape topped by a spike.

Did you take any pictures of the palace and spires?

Dan
PS. I have a feeling that Mike Hoffman might have drawn a few more pictures of domes and spires than just these here:

Weren't there some third party resin sculpts for Eldar buildings that might work, as well?

Mind, combinations of old household clearer bottles and plastic Easter eggs, the season's coming up, would be promising, as well.

Doug

PS. Whoops, the Eldar stuff wouldn't work as well for 15mm, though.

Lol. I've actually made a couple of cardboard templates using Eldar designs, which I plan to use for hot wire carving on foam.
