How would you rate marines and sailors in a Napoleonic era landing party? The marines are trained, but may not get a lot of work on land. I don't know if the sailors are just a bunch of untrained toughs, or if they rise to the level of volunteers. |

Take a look at the TFL Forum. Search in Sharpe Practice for Naval Landing Party and/or marines for discussion re: your question. link |

I did a Continental naval landing party list for the AWI in Sharp Practice 2 which you will find on the TFL Yahoo group under the SP Resources folder. I gave the marines Sharp Practice and Aggressive and did two groups of sailors, one conscripts and volunteers and another wallahs, both with Big Choppers. Cheers Ax |

The Campaign Guide to the War of 1812 by Mike Hobbs and published by TFL has stats for Royal Marines, both as troops in formation and as skirmishers. I don't recall any sailor stats but there is an article, "Lost in Musique", in the 2017 Christmas Special which is set in 1809 in the Caribbean and has stats for Royal Marines and Sailors. Both should help you come up with something that works for you. |
