Looking for peoples recommendations for a rule system that captures the very fluid S.E Asian battles…?

I game in 28mm

Have you checked out Irregular Wars? It's a good small battle/large skirmish set and it handles everything from illness, rain, etc on middle weapons, and has many army lists. I really enjoy it and a Malay army is next up to paint once my Aztecs are done.

I second this recommendation. I don't know anything about war in SE Asia but have played Irregular Wars a number of times. They are quick to pick up, fun to play, and the rules have a ton of army lists included with them.

Let me third it. Irregular Wars is a fun system and easy to learn. Downloadable, pretty cheap if I recall correctly, it's been awhile.

Try Pikemans lament or Lion Rampant both are fairly quick.
