Those marketing guys need a raise, after that video! I am very much looking forward to where this is going… |

Baruk Khazad! There are few problems that can't be solved with a heavy metal-toed boot and a full mag from a heavy bolter |

The marketing team at GW is top notch. They have put out so many great preview videos. The whole company is doing great things. |

I'm intrigued by the settings on the other two clocks. I'm not sure if they're clues, or trolling, but…they could mean that plastic Sisters are close, and the plastic Thunderhawk is…not. |
Pictors Studio | 02 Feb 2018 11:08 a.m. PST |
There was a cardboard box that had plastic thunderhawk scrawled on it in marker in a previous one prompting a lot of speculation. I think they are just trolling. |

Much as I would love to see a plastic thunderhawk. |

Back in the day, I would have guessed it may be a concept model for a squat army, being released as a necro character because staff thought it a cool model. I read some where mad donna was and escher concept model? Old one eye was a tyranid carnifex concept, I remember reading in white dwarf. I'm sure there were a few others also. These days, I doubt that occurs. If its not signed off on in triplicate three years ahead it does not get made. Or similar big business red tape. Shame. |

You pulled a Tango, Pictors. TMP link Maybe Zoats could be next? I'm sure the fourth "Space Slann" clock was just outside the shot. But I won't be greedy. |

I don't know if this was a Tango. That thread wasn't posted to the 40K board. Here is a pictures of the model:

It's a lovely miniature and has been updated in line with the AoS Dwarfs so looks to be taller than the old classic Squats. Wouldn't it be cool if the Kharadron Overlords got some nice resin conversion sprues to go with this Squat? From the various photos on Facebook, of the weekend open day, Forge World have made alternative weapons for various gangs so it wouldn't be a long stretch to do the same for the Kharadron Overlords… especially when there are sci-fi weapons for the AoS Tzangors on the GW site. Arms, weapons and heads would be all that was needed… in sets of ten (to fit in with the Arkanaut boxed set). After all, most of the details are already 3d designed on the computer so it would just be a case of a bit of copy and pasting :) |
Centurio Prime | 05 Feb 2018 5:46 a.m. PST |
I'm pretty sure they are trolling. Also, its a great looking model with the improvements to its proportions like the AoS models have been improved. i.e. it looks like it has actual legs, not just boots attached to its torso, and looks like it could actually walk around and stuff. |

I don't know if this was a Tango. That thread wasn't posted to the 40K board. Fair enough. Seeing him here, his legs are a bit too broadly spaced- it just looks off. And I'm not sure what's up with that other hand- is he a locksmith on the side? |

Well it will be interesting to where this goes. |

Yea the angle had me thinking the same thing as Beast Rampant about the locksmithing thing. Now I see again I can tell it's a warhammer. If they do the Squats right I will have to forgo my vow to not get into another 40K army. I never had a problem with the war trikes I liked the entire ZZ top vibe that the old Squats had. Now if they take the Kharadron Overlords look and tweak it to be more 40K they will have a winner I think. I hope that the Squats have a 4 Toughness. Now considering that the Squats are part of the ab-humans will they be just short and tough IG/Astra Militarium or will GW actually give them their own flavor? From the model Pictor poster it would seem, at least for now, to be the former. Except perhaps Squats have a lot of Thunder Hammers or such. That would be a pity as that I think was one factor that saw the Squats consigned to oblivion. That they did not have enough of their own flavor to set them apart and make them interesting. I would like to see the Squats, while yes allied with the Imperium that they have been gone for so long or have been in far flung sectors of space they have developed an altogether different culture. Naturally it would have a lot of the motifs and troupes we have come to expect about dwarves in fantasy, or at least the fantasy that is Warhammer. So taciturn in attitude, tough, clannish, (now there is way to created some variations just as GW has done with the Eldar.) The way to explain similar Imperial equipment is that the Squats have managed over time to capture/find and/or modify SDT machines. I could see them not being real friendly toward the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Adepts not being happy about the Squats tinkering with SDTs. Then there are the Eldar and the Space Orks. Yep big grudge there. And if GW wants to make a nod to the lame reason Squats left in the first place was that they were eaten by one of the Hive Fleets. Well the bearded short guys probably gave the Nids a fight and indigestion. So there is another grudge. |

It's a hammer in his other hand… Ah yes, I see it now, thank you. Much better! |
The H Man | 07 Feb 2018 4:05 p.m. PST |
I don't think a conversion kit will be too successful. He's going to be pricey, so even a squad of 10 will set you back some change. Coincidence Mantic (and probably others) give dwarfs legs, then GW follows? Personally I like the no leg look. I'm sure others are the same. I think Peter Jackson has more to answer for. (though, of course, legs on dwarfs predate the lotr films) |
