When learning a new ruleset, do you typically play several games solitaire?

For sure!

Why embarrass myself in public?

Yup

Several? No. Perhaps one. But more likely to just work through any examples given or set up a game situation with a couple units and try out some of the game's basic rules.

Usually I just go over the rules a bunch of times and try to work through it all in my head. The guys at the club are pretty patient with my mistakes…

I may not play all the way through a game, but I'll play out some combat, such as a firefight and a close assault.

Always.

Never

Always! And I keep playing them solo…
