What color were the gun carriages, metal work, and cannon barrels for the Austrian artillery in 1866? From what I have seen the carriages are yellow ochre and metal work appears black, I assume this is correct? With the cannon barrels I have seen them painted black and I have also seen them bronze, what is correct or was it based on the type of gun? |

That all seems correct. I believe the barrels are usually painted black, at least in war time. Personally I paint rifled artillery with black barrels and smoothbores with shiny bronze so I can tell them apart on the game table. |

Those links didn't work for me, said they were unavailable or I was not a member of the group. |

Yellow ochre carriages, metalwork on carriages painted black, barrels bronze, last time I saw one it looked dark brown. Wouldn't a painted barrel just peel with the heat ? |
