The wash on the center fig brings out the detail nicely. Just watch that you don't get the wash too strong and IMHO it will be the best approach.

the wash works well. be careful to keep base colours light if you want to avoid everything ending up too dark

I like all of them, but I think the center one is the best, followed by the guy to the right in the photo. I echo the caution on going too dark with the wash.

I would say that the wash, center, is most effective, but too dark already. Lighten it up to the final color of the left figure, and you will hit a home run. Cheers!

Thank you all for your comments and advice, they're all welcome. I will try not to use too much wash for the next guys, I agree that the result above is a bit too dark.
