I use cd bases to mount buildings and trees since the 1980s. They worked perfect for the objective sector rules. Glad to see them still in use.

I "liberated" a whole stack of DVDs/CDs from the marketing group several years back that I've been using for scatter paint palettes and scatter terrain.

@JD: that's a great way to get gaming materials.

@Cod: Yeah, I just completed all the fences that I had available to make and ended up with 27 feet of snake rail fence. Seemed like a lot to me but likely not enough to do any battlefield I can imagine.
