Looking at building an early Ptolemaic army from the Warlord Games Successor starter army box.
I'm just wondering if there are any components that will need to be changed, added or not used from this box set. Or can I just build the army anyway from the box set and it will be fine for a Ptolemaic army.

Regards
Jacob

Having recently built a Seleucid army, the boxed set is a great starting point at a pretty good price. The phalangites can be used as is as all of the Successor armies used them in one form or another. The elephant is the Indian variety and the Ptolemaics use African versions, which were smaller. Probably not a big difference here, but there are other companies that sell them.

The biggest issue I had with this boxed army is that you get something like 9 cavalry figs, where most rules use 12 figure units, so you'll need to find some more. Second, there are no command figures included, so again, you will need to order some from another source. Finally, there are no skirmishers, archers, etc., so you'll have to find those elsewhere as well. Having said all that, however, you can usually get this boxed set for around $100 USD which is pretty good considering how much is in it and it will give you a good core for your army.

Thanks aegiscg47, some time in the future i'd also like to paint up a Ptolemaic army.
Great blog!
