How close are your dismounted figures and mounts to your mounted figures?

00 – Each mounted/dismounted figure is the same person
10 – Each mounted/dismounted pair has the same uniform
20 – Each mounted/dismounted pair comes from the same army
30 – Dismounted figures are from the same period
XX – My figures will dismount when you pry the saddle from their cold, dead, groin

I have a few ACW figures that are mounted/dismounted of the same personality. Generals and Colonels, most. And I have a few leader Japanese figures where they are both in cavalry armour with the same maedate and mempou. But most Japanese cavalry are replaced with a regular infantry figure of the same type. Same with Celts, Gauls, and Vikings. For the Old West, I have a couple of the same figure mounted and dismounted, but it's mostly you get a figure with the same weapon. Only one mounted female for Old West – Apache female. All my modern motorcycle gangs that have both versions have the same personality for both.

So …

00 – A few select
10 – A few here
20 – Most of the case

00 – Only my Foundry 7th Cavalry
10 – All others

ALL my ACW cavalry are depicted as dismounted. Their horses were just a means of getting from here to there.

Medieval and fantasy most humans are closely matched mounted and foot. At one time I spent a lot of effort in getting good matches. Non-humans are lucky if they are the same species if needed off their mount.

ECW dragoons are correct period foot/mounted

Any other period I can't remember at present

I've only recently started painting mounted/dismounted knights to match each other – before, it was a bunch of unrelated figures.

00… Medieval, my ACW, my moderns, my Anglo Zulu War, Sci-Fi, VSF, Napoleonic's where needed… WWI and WWII when needed…

If they didn't make them in both versions I converted my own…

If I can get the matching dismounted figures then I paint them as close as I can to the mounted ones. Doesn't everyone do this?

19th century colonial all.

Middle Ages most.

Even my Star War speeder bikes have both.

However, my 2mm figures are used for operational map games and I only have mounted figures with no dismounted.

My figures mount inside AFVs, so the miniatures themselves are only on the table when dismounted.

I do have a few (as yet unpainted) grav bikes with riders, but I haven't found any corresponding dismounted figures.
