I realize there was quite the variation in Soviet infantry uniform colors—but I am not about painting my Soviets in the Team Yankee khaki look. I have seen more brown and green looks that I like. Am I the only one who has angst about this? |

I have seen Soviet uniforms of the 80s in a particular NYC Army-Navy store. In what looked like near new condition. They are in a dark khaki brown. Where TY fails is in showing them with the collar tabs and shoulder boards in Red. In combat, these would be essentially the same color as the uniform. |

Even within a single unit you'll have various colours, from dark khaki to almost "desert" khaki. We were getting new "everyday" uniform each 6 months, and all 4 were new, but different. As for chevrons/collar tabs I was always pointing it, but as everybody complaining that tiny soldiers look better with red dots on them I see that it makes no sense to argue more. On a side note, artillery, radio, tankers were wearing black chevrons, border guards green, etc. |

And one shade was supposed to be for summer weather, and another(the darker green) for winter. |
