For some reason the search function isnt working for me here and this may have been covered before.

I know that most lend lease vehicles delivered to the Soviet Union retained the color the were shipped in and were rarely if ever repainted. For example US lend lease equipment stayed in the OD it was delivered in. I have seen some white paint used for winter as well as numbers, slogans and even red stars on lend lease equipment but color seems to remain what it was delivered in.

For the lend lease Matildas (and Valentines as well am guessing) would they have been delivered in the standard S.C.C 2 base color? I know standard British practice was to use S.C.C. 1A as an addition to the base color but guessing not that fancy with lend lease.

Second, does anyone have a Vallejo color, or color mix which matches S.C.C. 2? Prefer the "older" colors and NOT the new Colours of War paints.

Thanks in advance for your help

I don't have info on your color question, but FYI, the search function hasn't been working right for a while!

I know it's not Vallejo but Ammo do SCC2 as part of their BRITISH 1939-45 EUROPEAN COLORS set.

There are quite a few posts on this on the modeler forums. Here is one example:

slugbalancer. Thanks for the tip! I did find individual bottles here in the US so may consider that route.

idontbelieveit. Perfect, just what I was looking for.

My thanks to you both.

Now anyone have any insight into whether they were delivered in just the S.C.C 2 base color?

I don't know about how they were delivered. But I imagine they were delivered the same way other vehicles were delivered – so if SCC2 was the norm at the time that's what they got. If there were options, I don't know what to say.

You might contact the guy at Soviet Engines of War. He draws a lot of lend-leave vehicles so may have some ideas about colors:

Tbh SCC2 is pretty much the same colour as battle dress (it is slightly darker Irl, but in small scale you'll want to lighten it).

So just paint them English Uniform.

I do all my Matildas green though, as rather like the old Airfix Mk1, they just don't look right painted brown, however realistic it might be.
