Terrific. Doth mine eyes deceive me, or do some warriors wear the "Phrygian" helm that is usually shown a hundred years later? By Phrygian, I mean the conical helmets that dip forward at the apex. I suppose that some would explain this by saying that the artist had misinterpreted Classical art, but it seems possible that these helmets appeared in Spain first, and then took another century to spread through the rest of Europe. |
