After a second run of this scenario ended in a result very similar to the first, the Gentlemen Wargamers decided to give it yet another go, just to show that the British situation wasn't quite as hopeless as some of the commanders thought. And, as some of them predicted, the narrative and the outcome were quite different.

Lovely figures and great terrain which is always difficult for my preferred scale 28mm but works superbly in your scale. |

I did make a minor change this time around to the scenario, I let the British road proceed along a ridge line, rather than have to ascend a hill. Overall as designer of the scenario I've enjoyed these since they end up as closely fought and can go either way. The first game the French snatched victory from the jaws of the defeat, the second a clear French victory and the third a hard fought British win. Not going to run this one again for years, but still one to put down as a good match. Now back to von Moltke to get ideas for our next one. If you're going to plagiarise then steal from Der große Schweiger. Once again thank you Jeff for chronicling our games. |

Well Done! Always enjoy your AARs and how your rule system plays out grandtactic actions! MG |

I'm very pleased that you enjoy them, marshalGreg. The way that the action plays out is as much down to scenario design as it is to the rules being used, although a set of rules that will smoothly handle 80 to 100 units on the table is absolutely necessary if one is going to attempt grand tactical scenarios like these. If you're curious, you can read more about how we construct our scenarios here: PDF link |
