20k is the Dark Age of Technology and could be very interesting era. 50k Is just ancient Gork and Mork punching each other in a dark void. devoid of players and imagination |

Nice ideas, but I was not talking about games set in the GW universe, just others using similar names that kids may get confused by and buy. I thought some other company may make a not40k game and call it 20k or 50k and get away with cashing in on the name, since 30k and 40k are floating around already. Also as Warhammer 40,000 is the proper name, 20k and 50k are well different. I can see it now: "Battles in 50K: Titanic armies clash in space", or such like. "Includes 20 armored assault droids and 12 Martian alliance centurions, full colour battle map, 6 battlefield creators and 2 alliance bunkers, rule book, dice and ruler."… You get the idea. |

I guess it depends if the people putting the game out are happy being thought odf a idealess hacks who just want to jump on a bandwagon. If that was the case, then I reckon it could work :) |

Hold on, are you saying there is a company out there that's not!!!!??? Yeah, its a pretty big band wagon, always room for one more. |

Like I said… it depends on whether someone is happy riding on the crest of someone else's wave… if they are… that's up to them :) |

I like to think of "Dune" as 10K. |

I'd love to see the battlesuits, robots and ships from before the 'Dark Age of Technology'. I like my sci fi to look advanced. |

Not sure what that is supposed to mean, but why try to mix current politics with this subject? |

I much prefer the name PeaceHammer – Make Love Not War…Whoops maybe not. How about WarSickle – The better half. REMMAHRAW – Backwards in Time We Go. …hmmm I guess I will go back to painting and smelling glue. |

I probably spent 20K collecting 40K stuff back in the day. Might even be worth 50K someday… ;-) |

Or south park's Mr Mackey style. "It's 50-k, k" |

Not very many kids buy a lot of 40k, compared to the adults with jobs. So if you are going for the really low IQ confused kids niche market, you might sell a few copies I guess. |

Could somebody make an official game called 10K, 20K etc, set in the future of our universe with orcs, elves, undead robots etc factions that closely resembled GW figures without getting sued? It would be interesting to play a golden age of humanity game setting, just as it starts to go wrong with hints towards it being linked to the 40K universe, such as Eldar from before the creation of the eye of terror etc. |
The H Man | 29 Jan 2018 4:40 p.m. PST |
I see no legal issue. GW don't own orcs and evles, as Mantic and other's games proves. Not to mention the years of other comps pumping out minis. They also don't own sci fi or space, so again, no issue. GW, themselves have spent years copying others, from the terminator franchise, Lord of the rings, D&D, Alien movies, and so on and on and on…. Unless 20k and 50k are TM GW, there is no issue there either. They may be soon, now though, so best get in quick! Just call it 50,000, they can't own every number! |
