I have done some research on this topic some time ago with not much success. Here is a link to the Society of the War of 1812 in Virginia in which I pose a similar question;
link Scroll to near the end of questions for a discussion on flags and uniforms. Note the description of the 68th Virginia Regiments flag, which is similar to the state flag. For my Virginia battalion I have copied the state flag and made a paper copy. I also used a Flag Dude regimental flag purportedly used by Virginia regiments. I hope this helps. |

cheers for that ID. I will follow that road and see what comes up. I would use flag dude but emails bounce back from him at the moment. |

You are welcome. Yeah, my emails have been bouncing back for about a month now. Still, despite the erratic service and if you are willing to wait, his flags are worth it. BTW; my flag is based on the Virginia state coat of arms, which again is described as the one carried by the 68th Virginia in 1814. I have a MS Word copy if you need it. |
