The first one was good but since then, has Bud Light Jumped the shark? Dilly Dilly?

JimDuncanUK26 Jan 2018 5:08 p.m. PST

Don't drink the stuff and haven't seen any adverts in this part of the world.

Dynaman878926 Jan 2018 5:27 p.m. PST

What?

The Beast Rampant26 Jan 2018 5:29 p.m. PST

My opinion is "yes".

The ads are getting better.

Great way to motivate the troops.

Actually in my neck of the woods it's the current catch phrase. Kinda like"Wazzup" a few years ago…..

KSmyth26 Jan 2018 6:58 p.m. PST

Surely there are better things to watch. The commercials aren't clever enough to mask the fact that Bud Light only pretends to be beer. Dopey Dilly.

JimSelzer26 Jan 2018 6:59 p.m. PST

oh the power of TV invading the common everyday language

what next where's the beef

zoneofcontrol26 Jan 2018 7:19 p.m. PST

I don't watch much TV so the first time I heard people talk about "Dilly Dilly" I didn't know what was supposed to be so funny. It's all lost on me.

Cacique Caribe26 Jan 2018 8:28 p.m. PST

I have no idea what any of this means.

You know, those of us who disconnected our TV's 15 years ago really don't have that problem.

From what I can gather, I haven't missed much TV, either.

Cyrus the Great26 Jan 2018 9:05 p.m. PST

I can't believe I ate the whole thing!

Zephyr126 Jan 2018 9:21 p.m. PST

Does anybody drink that gnats p*ss?

Dadster Supporting Member of TMP27 Jan 2018 5:53 a.m. PST

Gnats p*ss is a wee bit strongly put; no? Let's say it's swilly, silly?

Well, the topic has a lot of posts, so in the advertising world it is a success. They have managed to create a catchy meme that brings their product to mind whenever you hear it. And in advertising that is a huge win.

Winston Smith27 Jan 2018 7:04 a.m. PST

I was a tad annoyed at how the first commercial went out of its way to insult craft beer, considering how many craft breweries Anheuser Busch has been buying up.
Then the clueless king starred to grow on me. I'm looking forward to the Super Bowl ad. I won't be drinking Bud Lite though. grin

Dilly dilly!

Cerdic27 Jan 2018 7:17 a.m. PST

We don't seem to have suffered this ad campaign over here, so can't say one way or another.

Bud light is sold over here, though. Personally I thought Huscarle was being overly generous by calling it gnats p*ss!

Winston Smith27 Jan 2018 7:51 a.m. PST

Bud Light is what you drink after a long afternoon of cutting the grass on a hot day. Quaff a few, take a shower, and then have a real beer.
Dilly dilly.

This too shall pass.

Where does this Dilly Dilly thing come from ? huh? Makes me think of DQ Dilly Bars ! evil grin

Dadster Supporting Member of TMP27 Jan 2018 9:38 a.m. PST

A series of tv advertisements promoting Bud Light set in medieval times of course.
Dilly Dilly!

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP27 Jan 2018 9:41 a.m. PST

Well yes, I take it was from Medieval times … But you really can't be too sure with Ad Men … evil grin

Dadster Supporting Member of TMP27 Jan 2018 9:52 a.m. PST

I can see the term catching on in sports world….
Final Score: Liverpool 2 Arsenal Nilly. Dilly Dilly!

redmist112227 Jan 2018 10:10 a.m. PST

Nope…you just gave it free advertising here!

Dilly Dilly…

carne6827 Jan 2018 2:33 p.m. PST

You're right. Bring back the frogs and the waaaaazzzuuupppppp guys.

Old Contemptibles27 Jan 2018 7:05 p.m. PST

Didn't the first commercial have a honey wine instead of craft beer? A honey wine that he has really been into.

"This too shall pass"

dapeters29 Jan 2018 10:39 a.m. PST

Was it them that a couple years ago came up with "it's just beer"in an attempt to take on Craft beer?

Personal logo Parzival Supporting Member of TMP29 Jan 2018 5:35 p.m. PST

The very first one jumped a shark, but failed to clear it. Really stupid ads.

Personal logo DWilliams Supporting Member of TMP30 Jan 2018 7:50 p.m. PST

I'm really hoping that the Wizard changes that idiotic king into a stack of Bud Lights, so it can all come to an end.

Howler31 Jan 2018 9:13 p.m. PST

Yep
