"For the largest economy in Europe, Germany's military — the Bundeswehr — sure is small. In fact, although smaller missions, like those in Afghanistan, remain possible, a larger conflict would likely catch the Bundeswehr off-guard, said Hans-Peter Bartels, parliamentary commissioner for the armed forces, in an interview with a German magazine. Although the budget has increased slightly following criticism by U.S. President Donald Trump, the operational readiness of the German forces has further deteriorated this past year. "The hard currency, in which the success of the [defense] minister is measured, is the readiness of the Bundeswehr," Bartels said. "And that has not really improved in the last four years, but rather has become worse."…" Main page link Amicalement Armand |

Honestly I think Germany should be ashamed of itself. When they were on the front lines for invasion during the Cold War they met the quota. Now that they have the Polish as a buffer to any aggression from Russia they are letting their military fall into a horrible state of disrepair. It's quite sad actually. |

At least Poland was able to upgrade it's armor with Leopard II's. Now maybe Germany can replace the ones they sold off. |

Where have all the Panzers gone? Gone to Poland. Where have all the Panzers gone? Sold to the Poles… (Sung to the tune of "Where have all the Flowers Gone?)… I had a Polish student at the War College who touted the defeat of Budyonny's Cossacks at the Battle of Komarów as the second time Poland saved western civilization (Vienna being the first). I wonder of we may be getting ready for a third time in their mind…… |

The threat to western civilization does not come from the east, who, mostly do share the same, but from south and within. Demographic winter first of all. On the other end history tells it does not favor the weak. |

😋☃ Phrase used to brand the trend of western european origin dwellers to have fewer and fewer kids, not insuring the replacement of the population; same in Japan. Ends up like all those names on ancient history books of finished/ melted in peoples. Btw it was also the same for the Roman empire. Russians could be a threat if some want to redo the great tsarist empire etc. but not a threat to our way of life. i can vouch, theirs is 90% close to us, and they on the other hand have now been vaccined against ( well do not want to enter politics and be banned) their old socio economical desease of 70 years and its offsprings. So not civilization but possibly, if it made sense, geostrategic. |

The Roman empire consumed itself with internecine strife and ruinous military expenditure. Europe has the EU project and an ever falling propotion of GDP being spent on the military. They'll be just fine against this mysterious 'threat from the south' |

I believe all of the West is being faced by the new colonialism. People move in and replacing the existing culture with their own. The U.S. is not immune. |
