Noticed this from the current Davos summit: Benioff said that there's confusion about whether social media use is bad for people and it's the government's job to step in and provide clarity for parents. There's a smoking age for cigarettes and regulations around how they can be promoted, but no such rules exist for social media. link |

Just what we need, more government interference in our lives. Having said that I do not use Facebook, Twitter etc at all, but that is my preference & it should stay that way. |

Perhaps Benioff could explain how this might be achieved? |

Whatever happened to people dealing with the consequences of their actions and learning to control themselves? I get public safety and national security, but I don't need or want the government micromanaging my life. Say 'No' to the Nanny State. |

I'm sorry I was looking at my phone, What was that you said? |

I have been riding public transit on and off around here for 25 years or so, and for the last several years, I have seen many other riders looking at their phones. Some are smiling or even laughing. Some just look neutral. Some move their thumbs and/or fingers. Some murmur softly. I have a phone just like theirs. If I get a text message, I look at it. On the rare occasions when I have to look something up on the internet while on transit, I look at it. Text messages and the internet don't make me smile or laugh or murmur. I suppose I look neutral and move my thumbs and fingers. When I'm finished with my text message or internet research, I put my phone away and go back to reading the newspaper. But I do wonder what all of those people are smiling and laughing and murmuring about. |

Yes, we need more regulations on everything. I want the government to parent my children and do all of my thinking for me. |

Net Neutrality = We're from the Government and WE will telll you what to think. More of the same. |

Agree Choctaw and StoneMtn… The Gov't wants to tell you what's good for you. It's been that way for sometime … |

"Perhaps Benioff could explain how this might be achieved?" Ask the Chinese communists. The people who go to events like the one in Davros are NOT staunch defenders of personal liberty and freedom. And they'll use whatever they need to further their agenda of government control; addiction, illness, global warming, energy scarcity, emotions, whatever. |

Just like in the UN, many of those on the boards about stopping terrorism support terrorism And the same goes for women's rights discussion in the UN … their nations still treat women as 2d Class citizens/humans. Go figure ?!? |
