"Set in Vietnam's in April 1968 – three months after the tide-turning Tet Offensive and one month after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. – Point Man is the story of a U.S. Army fire team fractured by racial tensions, moral crises, and the crushing pressures of combat in a war nobody wants to fight. Andre "Casper" Allen, a rough-edged ideologue finds his radical politics put him at odds with the squad's machine gunner, Silas Meeks. When their search-and-destroy mission in the Mekong Delta goes terribly wrong, both men find themselves pitted against each other and their recalcitrant platoon commander, Lieutenant Sutter. Point men die like flies in the bush, and as loyalties dissolve every step forward comes with a price."

Sounds like it is written by someone only familiar with the contemporary civilian world. My father was a Vietnam combat veteran and based on his experience whatever social ills were plaguing the country at the time (and I am not denying that there were many), were not among the top concerns of those engaged in combat. When people are shooting at you any differences that might exist in a unit are quickly forgotten. To his dying day my dad remained extremely close to all of those with whom he served in Vietnam -- no matter their backgrounds. I am not opposed to movies and novels with social commentary (in fact they are often very useful) -- but put them in a realistic setting and don't try to falsify history.

It will be rubbish…

Very Low budget, a modern PC political agenda to push, a "deranged" senior US army officer as one of the characters, oh, and the trailer looks rubbish as well…

YouTube link

Uniforms way too clean, everyone neat and clean shaven and looks like it is being filmed in some waste ground – it certainly does not look like the Mekong Delta…

A never heard of director (who also wrote the script) who lists an episode of Dr Who amongst his work…actually he was the sounddepartment boom mike operator according to this link:

I will give it a miss – it will be awful…
