Very, very nice. Stunning brushwork. The colors and the detail are amazing. Wish Calpe would resculpt those ridiculously tiny drums though. |

Very nice, Rafa! I've got a couple dozen waiting to be painted--they look like they'll be fun with all these folds in the coats and trousers. |

Great work! Some tough old salts waiting to wade in where the Emperor commands |

The shading and highlighting is so much his trademark. Stunning result for what could have been very dull figures, as all in the greatcoat. Had never noticed the drum issue before. It is true about what are otherwise almost even better than the earlier released Prussians in this range. |

Yeah, I've got his book--I think these really lend themselves to his style. |

Amazing painting skills as always! I've painted a fair few of those Calpe French by now (about 200) and never realized the drums were too small. How did I not spot that!! My only slight criticism (if I may) is about the greatcoats which would not normally be blue for infantry – blue was supposedly reserved to the Guard and marine infantry as well as the artillery. Thanks for sharing!! |

Gorgeous work as usual Rafa! I have 8 battalions of these to paint myself. Funny I never noticed the drum issue either, Peter at Calpe is usually so meticulous. |

Yes, it is the depth of colours. I think that is what I was trying to say. Anyone can paint a light colour over darker one and produce a zebra effect. v Winterfeldt is right…it is more than that. It is more than your book (which is brilliant). You have kept some secrets back, you tease……….. These are the simplest figures anyone could paint…surely…..You choose any colour for the coat, you lighten it for a few highlights, and you do the next one hundred. But they would not look like this………. |
