Or do you have all that you need?

The Beast Rampant17 Jan 2018 8:57 p.m. PST

A definite yes to both questions!

Spooner617 Jan 2018 9:01 p.m. PST

Yes I buy more. I tend to keep specific dice for rules with the rules so as long as I try more rules I will buy more dice. Nothing is worse than bringing everything to a game but miss the crucial d8 crit die.

Sure, never have enough or the ones you need in sufficient quantity.

Personal logo Parzival Supporting Member of TMP17 Jan 2018 9:17 p.m. PST

Rarely, but yes.

Winston Smith17 Jan 2018 9:24 p.m. PST

No. I'm ok.
If I can supply 6 players with enough D20 to play TSATF with no dice sharing, I'm good. They're in the fabled trapezoidal cedar cigar box.

Then, there's the fabled "Box O' D6". Fine cedar cigar box.

Of course I have the fabled cedar cigar box "Box O' D10", but I hardly use them.

Cyrus the Great17 Jan 2018 9:30 p.m. PST

Yes! And Yes.

Bashytubits17 Jan 2018 9:40 p.m. PST

I haven't bought any in quite a while. I have quite a large box of them and am unlikely to need more unless I get into some game that needs "special" dice.

Winston Smith17 Jan 2018 9:50 p.m. PST

What drives me nuts, though, is ihe "special" D6 that came in the Flames of War "Sting of the Scorpion" SAS LRDG box set. Usually the FoW special dice use an emblem for the 6. In this case, the scorpion is a 1.
Drives me nuts, yet I'm loathe to discard them.

D8? D4? I have them, but don't know why. I guess that means I have enough.
D12? Ditto.

roving bandit17 Jan 2018 10:01 p.m. PST

yes and yes.

Prince Rupert of the Rhine18 Jan 2018 2:24 a.m. PST

Not for along time I have loads in just about every conceivable type ( even those odd average dice old WRG rules used to require). That doesn't mean I wouldn't buy some new ones if a rules set called for it but they'd have to be pretty unusual for me not to already have some in my duce box.

Vigilant18 Jan 2018 2:57 a.m. PST

Keep topping up for losses to the floor and for those broken ones that never roll what I need!

Redcurrant18 Jan 2018 3:01 a.m. PST

I keep trying to buy lucky dice, but have had no success so far.

ZULUPAUL Supporting Member of TMP18 Jan 2018 3:37 a.m. PST

I buy dice very rarely, already have a ton of them.

GildasFacit Sponsoring Member of TMP18 Jan 2018 3:59 a.m. PST

Recently it has been sets of small coloured dice to act as markers and bulking up the number of D20 as I now use those instead of multiple D6.

Also I've bought large dice (30+mm) so I can see the damn numbers.

Rich Bliss18 Jan 2018 4:39 a.m. PST

Yes, for no good reason, but I do it anyway.

Yes, and no.

Yes, the poorly performing ones must be punished and new ones take their place to teach them a lesson. Also, ooh, shiny.

PzGeneral18 Jan 2018 5:23 a.m. PST

Bought a ton of D20 when I got the Sword and the Flames rules.

Bought 6 sets of "D&D" dice, with bags, off Ebay (I think) from a Chinese vendor for like $20. USD Not sure why I did, but now if my Grandkids want to play a RPG, no fighting over dice!

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP18 Jan 2018 5:30 a.m. PST

Yes and yes. Special dice to go with armies now, and s sometimes custom.

Huscarle18 Jan 2018 6:08 a.m. PST

Another Yes & Yes vote…

Pictors Studio18 Jan 2018 6:40 a.m. PST

No. I get so many dice when I buy boxed games that the only time I buy them is if I go to a store or convention and forget mine.

I have some permanently in my car now for that contingency and even some in my winter jacket.

skipper John18 Jan 2018 6:48 a.m. PST

Hehehe, I've taken to making them!

mad monkey 118 Jan 2018 7:08 a.m. PST

Yes.

FusilierDan Supporting Member of TMP18 Jan 2018 7:09 a.m. PST

Yes!

Allen5718 Jan 2018 7:27 a.m. PST

Rarely. More D6 than I could ever use, so no to them. Others get bought occasionally when I cant find the ones I already have.

Mick the Metalsmith18 Jan 2018 8:05 a.m. PST

I would buy more tiny d6 (6mm) if I can find them for markers. I am in need but haven't gotten around to it for more d12s. I have been converting my rpg rules to d12 instead of d6

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP18 Jan 2018 8:45 a.m. PST

I'm with you, Winston! Best I've been able to do is ensure that for certain games, all the special dice have a symbol for the "1" and in other games the symbol is the "6." Short of buying even more custom dice, I can't get consistency.

I have an old metal lunchbox full of different types of dice. However I believe that dice, like tires wear out over time. Don't mean in a physical sense, just their ability to support your gaming success. Some as they age will tend to always roll low. Good for most naval games but not to be relied on otherwise. My problem is how to mark them without raising the suspicions of your players. I thought of placing them in a sectional box marked "Low" and "High". I have no solid evidence for this theory, only my personal knowledge that when I need a low number, it will not happen.

Personal logo etotheipi Sponsoring Member of TMP18 Jan 2018 9:18 a.m. PST

Yes, I still buy dice. No, I don't have all I need.

QILS requires you to code your stats on to the pips of the dice, so I always need more dice. Not as many as you would think, but lots. Basically, it offloads table lookups and declension of capability into the physical manipulables (the dice). So, a couple minutes with a Sharpie and a sorting box before the game buys away play time delay and allows more complex interactions than are in most series of tables.

I also buy "cool" dice.

Shagnasty Supporting Member of TMP18 Jan 2018 9:35 a.m. PST

Yes! I'm still looking for a set which will always roll exactly what I need.

Personal logo x42brown Supporting Member of TMP18 Jan 2018 9:38 a.m. PST

More that too many I don'y intend to buy any more.

Oh, I still buy dice and no, I have all the dice I need.

rustymusket18 Jan 2018 10:18 a.m. PST

Like vdal1812 said.

I think I have enough but you never know.

KSmyth18 Jan 2018 11:54 a.m. PST

I don't think you can have enough dice, can you? Besides what happens when you take a hammer to the "bad ones?" You have to have replacements.

coopman18 Jan 2018 12:06 p.m. PST

Yes, but I have such a large collection of them that it is more of a "want" and not a "need".

Old Contemptibles18 Jan 2018 1:38 p.m. PST

Rarely, but I had to buy extra 10 sided the other day. But other than that I doubt I will buy anymore. I don't have a dice fetish like so many do.

Timmo uk18 Jan 2018 3:21 p.m. PST

Yes.

Yes & yes, used, cheaper the better.

Striker19 Jan 2018 9:40 a.m. PST

Yes and yes.

Ragbones19 Jan 2018 8:26 p.m. PST

Yep

Rick Don Burnette21 Feb 2018 12:49 p.m. PST

I know why some of you still buy dice. Since you rol so the7l the dice on the table, xome dice escape needing replacement
I use clear plastic dice boxe so the dice dont knock over the figures or go on the floor. And itis easy to reroll and no cocked dive

Rudysnelson29 Jul 2018 8:02 p.m. PST

At some shows up to 25% of my sales will be opaque dice. I do not carry clear or fancy dice due to the retail being way too high.

Joes Shop Supporting Member of TMP30 Jul 2018 2:29 a.m. PST

Yes to both.
