Asking for folks recommendation for an Old West rules set to use with my copy of Avalon Hill boardgame Gunslinger.

Have tried many times to play this game with the AH rules but just dont like the mechanics,so am looking for a rules set I would like+enjoy better.

Any suggestions appreciated.

You might like to try "A Fistful of Lead" by Jaye Wiley. Each figure moves separately, with a card-driven system. I've played it with the author at a con, and our local group has used his new French and Indian War version as well.

Gutshot is a good set of Western rules. However, they are in Houston, and I'm not certain they are up and running again after the hurricane. My cousin's daughter down there was still living with her sister at Christmas, and Cacique Caribe just moved back into his home.

I really liked A Fist Full of Dice or Rules with No Name.

We have also used GASLIGHT.

There is a Wild West supplement for Combat Patrol that is free.

I am an Old TRWNN fan! Love the game. But I am using Fistful of Lead at Cincycon this year. FFoL handles large games easily.

Thanks.

Funnily enough I was thinking of doing it the other way round…using the Gunslinger rules with miniatures.

I recommend Six-Gun Sound: Blaze of Glory, from Two Hour Wargames, as long as you can live with some uncertainty they would work fine (and if you played Gunslinger with its card pulls, you've already played with some uncertainty)…

In fact, I like that idea so much I think I'll have to find my copy of the rules (I can see my Gunslinger box on the shelf over yonder) and play some of those classic fights again.

Dibs on The Kid or on Innocente! And Ling Ho, maybe this time he'll get to hit somebody!

Many times in the past I have used the gunslinger rules with miniatures.

It shows its age, as it is slow and requires pre-planning, but really gives a fine game. Younger gamers used to first person shooter computer games might think it is very dull.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and help. Decided on Six Gun Sound rules as they seem to be what am looking for. TRWNN is another possibility.
