Take your pick, there are some options. Having lived near the area for so long, I've always fancied gaming this small but interesting battle.

PAR , Great info . Think I might go with the Red Squadron color- just looks the part . Yea , I've been wanting to game this for some time as well . Should be an interesting convention game . Cheers

Coolyork: What rules and scale are you planning to run this game? Which convention?

Hi coolyork,

Just saw your post. FWIW I messed around with the Battle of the Severn while I was doing some rules experimentation. At my blog here:

G deG, Great AAR on your Blog . Very inspiring ! I didn't think I would be the first to do Severn I just was looking for a reason to paint up the 28mm Infantry I have and Severn seemed like an unusual story . Thanks

Thanks, coolyork.

I'm curious also as to which convention?

coolyork20 Feb 2018 5:49 p.m. PST

More then likely Hurricon in Sept. down in Orlando 2018

Guillaume , What was the figure ratio ( 1 = ? ) in your game and would you suggest a different set of rules ?

Hi Coolyork,
Sorry about the delay – don't get to TMP too often.

I used The Severn to play around with several skirmish level rules and the game I reported on used "Scum of the Earth" (Nordic Weasel).

I game almost exclusively in 10mm and since there are 6 figures per stand it would have looked about 1:1 scale but doing a true 1:1 in skirmish rules would require between 300-400 figures!

I relied heavily on Robert Giglio's Severn scenario which is geared toward "Forlorn Hope" (Caliver Press).

I actually don't think pikes were carried at The Severn so any blackpowder era rule should adapt well enough. Even if you chose to use pikes (as Giglio does) most any ECW rules set should adapt as well.
