I was thinking of ordering from Monolith Designs directly and was wondering what kind of service the TMP comunity has had with them? Do they ship in a timely manner? how are their resin models? |
Rotorvator | 27 Jun 2005 6:19 a.m. PST |
I've had good service ordering Graven Images miniatures from them. Since I haven't bought any of their buildings yet, I can't comment on those. |

I have always had great service from Steve. He is a good bloke. Use with confidence. He normal gets stuff to me within the week. |
R Lee S | 27 Jun 2005 7:12 a.m. PST |
ok, so it looks like it's hit or miss service, The majority of people have received their orders and can't say enough nice things about Monolith Design, but the ones who haven't received anything get little to no help and no responses, and it sounds like their credit cards are charged once the orders placed. Thanks for the info. I think I'll pass on ordering directly from Steve, I'm not feeling particulurly lucky today. Dose anyone know of a US retailer will be carrying their product at historicon? |
stealth841 | 27 Jun 2005 7:22 a.m. PST |
I feel you have got an unfair veiw of Monolith. You can order with confidence. Steve has great customer relations. Dont be put of by a couple of comments. Steve is one of the good guys. |
General Montcalm | 27 Jun 2005 7:32 a.m. PST |
I agree with Stealth841. Always had good deals from Monolith, and the odd freebie thrown in too. |
Manolito | 27 Jun 2005 7:35 a.m. PST |
Hi Gamingdog – There is no US retailer. We are the biggest manufacturer of resin wargaming scenics in the world, and as such no stockist is big enough to carry our extensive lines – so you will not see us at Historicon. Whether you order from us or not is entirely up to you, but everything we send out goes by either Special Delivery or Recorded Delivery in the UK and by Airsure for overseas. All services are insured and require a signature on delivery. We have been using these services for 3 years now If you would like to hear from nearly 300 of our customers, who are not only happy with the level of service, but also our outstanding quality, I suggest you join this group: link If you do order please wait until the end of the month when our resin prices are going up, as is our overseas postal charge. Our metal prices will remain unaffected |

Manolito (Steve M.?) Your email account is reject emails from my yahoo account and for some reason I am not allowed to post on the JimBowensDisturbia yahoo group. I have been attempting to get hold of you to ask some questions on product availability as I have not been able to get stock or restock on certain Graven Images items for over a month. Please contact me at: brigadegames AT yahoo DOT com Thanks Lon BrigadeGames.com |

Hmm, I like their stuff but have been put off ordering by negative comments I have seen on TMP. But given they read postings here and we therefore "know where they live" perhaps I will give them a try -I've wanted that lovely Celtic Roundhouse for ages.. |

I never had any problem and I order from France. |

We still have about 60% of Monolith remaining in stock regards Larry Huber Brookhurst |
Doctor X | 27 Jun 2005 11:37 a.m. PST |
Larry – what 60% do you still have inventory of? I've requested some kind of idea of this a few times via email and the response I got back was something along the lines of "we are too busy to look so you'll just get whatever we still have in stock off your order after you send it in". This makes it really hard to make sure you get enough pieces for a project, etc. if I don't know how many of what pieces are going to show up from my order. So I went an alternate route and purchased items from others who knew what inventory they had or what the lead time was if they did not have it in stock. |

North Star do all of our trade sales and if it's on Nick's order form it will be available – If it is not on Nick's order form then it is not yet available to the trade. |

Find a retailer who will return your emails in the US, like Brookhurst, and you'll have a lot less of a gamble. My bad experiences are posted elsewhere. Lon from Brigade appears to regularly appeal to Steve to contact him in these threads, so I'd guess retailers have the same problem with him that customers do. |
Manolito | 11 Jul 2005 1:57 p.m. PST |
Fortean – I answered Lon's post: North Star do all of our trade sales and if it's on Nick's order form it will be available - If it is not on Nick's order form then it is not yet available to the trade. As Lon is a trade customer, He does all of his dealings with Nick at North Star, and should not be contacting me |
Fortean2 | 12 Jul 2005 7:55 a.m. PST |
This wasn't Lon's first post asking you to contact him. I'm just poining out that it seems to be a regular issue with you. |
Manolito | 12 Jul 2005 8:12 a.m. PST |
Fortean – as I said in my last post: As Lon is a trade customer, He does all of his dealings with Nick at North Star, and should not be contacting me We use a distributor to free up my time. Nick does a great job, and I will not enter into any trade discussions. Lon knows this – I have made it clear on this post – and now so do you |
Fortean2 | 12 Jul 2005 3:12 p.m. PST |
I don't want to intrude on too much more of your valuable time then. My apologies to Lon for pointing out his mistakes. Though it still manages to underline your communications issues. You don't seem to want to talk to retailers, and you certainly don't want any customers with problems intruding on your time either. But then that's what customer service is all about. |
Calamus | 13 Jul 2005 9:13 p.m. PST |
"If you do order please wait until the end of the month when our resin prices are going up, as is our overseas postal charge. Our metal prices will remain unaffected" It's always nice to see a company ask it's prospective customers to wait a bit so they can charge them more for the same product.
|
Manolito | 14 Jul 2005 3:06 a.m. PST |
Calamus – If you have a look at the website, you will see that the prices have remained unchanged – we haven't yet been able to implement our price rise – it will take a few more weeks – and the comment about waiting before ordering was really a joke – do you really think customers knowing a price is going up would actually wait to pay a higher price? |
Calamus | 15 Jul 2005 9:59 a.m. PST |
I wouldn't know if you were joking or not. Some of your comments seems to lead me to believe there was more than a hint of realism in your statement. |
BrigadeGames | 15 Jul 2005 8:24 p.m. PST |
Manolito/Steve – I have been debating with myself whether or not to say anything on these threads for a while. But some of the statements regarding me above have put me over the limit and deserve a response. While I know you have a great product – whether your resin range or Jim Bowen's – not communicating in any way with trade customers, despite having a trade rep, makes absolutely no sense. I respect what you are asking – communicate with the trade rep. But did you realize I was never told that NorthStar was your official GI trade rep and that all communication must flow through them? How was I to know this? Communicating this way all depends on getting information and product in a reasonable timeframe from the manufacturer. As I posted in a previous thread, my emails are rejected by your account. That makes no sense at all. I am not mad, just stupefied and trying to understand the reason for the actions. Remember my company and yours started on a resin stocking program at the time you and Jim started the Graven Images line. When I was ordering directly, I patiently waited with you through the frustrating GI molding/casting/blistering delays over and over for several orders. I started to build stock of the resin product and Graven Images and had several shipments. Then abruptly I could not get a shipment for several months and never received an explanation why or what happened to this day. No responses to emails despite my numerous attempts to contact you. During our phone discussion about this order it appeared there was some sort of fax or email snafu that caused that order to go missing. But then I waited for another month before attempting to contact you on its status but could not get a reply. Despite having many orders for the items in the order and reassuring many of them over the 8 week period, I had to finally tell customers who had ordered I could no longer get a supply of the product. Then NorthStar started handling a supply of the GI product and I was able to get that again. I own 2 businesses. I would never even think of not responding to a customer, whether they were brought in by a consultant or my own staff. Now, yes I have ordered some items that were not on the official trade form. These are products that have been on your website for quite some time and it is only natural to have customers who I supply your product to ask if I can get it. There has typically not been any sort of major delay – maybe a month. If new releases were not ready in the current month, they would be in the next. Again, maybe it is my bad for trying to order product and generate business for both of us and at the same time satisfying my customers. Maybe your between a rock and a a hard place with the casting/molding/blistering outsourcing. I even offered to put them in clamshells myself if that was the delay. But not to answer questions on when new releases that are way overdue will be available and not even to allow your email account to accept emails from me is beyond reason. I had multiple shipments from the UK over the last month and I wanted to have new GI product at Historicon. There was plenty of time and opportunity to get new product in time for the convention. Unfortunately, besides the older stuff in the line I will only have the GI releases that were new in the spring. Oh well. Best regards, Lon Brigade Games |

Thanks for clarifying your position on this Lon. I didn't want to put words in your mouth, but it looked like you were having the same frustartions I had had. |
