Hey guys, I was so impressed with the RISK – Europe boardgame rules, and therefore set forth to do my own version of it in 10mm. Added cities and ships from Settlers of Catan and so on. Yellow was the hardest one to do, as with the painting style I used made the whole army really hard to distinguish. Therefore had to use a high contrast basing which didin't work out too well. Please do share your thoughts and feedback on my project.

pfft. Looks like you threw it together in about 10 minutes. Well, on second glance, that is an AWESOME setup. I love the blue minis and how you used snow/grass on the bases. How much time did you put into this? |

Really impressive. Makes me want to do a Middle Earth like that. What a good job. |

Agree: killer set-up. Also agree with the Editor: the game board being painted will kick it up a couple of notches in the, "Whoa!!!", Department. Thanks for sharing, and inspiring. Cheers! |

Cheers for the inspiring comments. The project took me 6 months, but there were plenty of weeks me doing nothing. The board from start to finish was 4 hours. And approximately 10 figures painted based and varnished took 2 hours. How should I paint the board? I was not initially too fond of the outcome either and going to redo the whole map. (Planning to do several different gameboards in style and size to add variety.) I also thought about basing the whole map, just unsure can I pull it off so that the miniatures still stand straight on the board. |

Alrighty, back with a new gameboard. Decided to "paint it" after reading your comments regarding the plain board. Just unsure should I transition from RISK rules to actual wargame rules and use movement trays to employ more troops. And actually decided I'll do a new board which is not modular for the battles. So I guess this board will go to RPG use, or could you guys see yourselves playing on a board like this with RISK rules? Cheers!

That's just wild!
Noktunius Alrighty, back with a new gameboard. Decided to "paint it".. Just unsure should I transition from RISK rules to.. wargame.. and use movement trays.. I'll do a new board which is not modular for the battles. .. or could you guys see yourselves playing on a board like this with RISK rules? Heres a thought, first, just go w/ RISK, but build a few more 'markers' (cottages, castle, etc.) as small villages & major cities. The square (modular) sections w/ 'markers' would be the only ones that count as 'territories' which gain you 'resources' to add more troops etc. Best of luck. |
