My LFGS has a decent amount of FoW africa terrain on clearance for 30% off how well does this look next too other 20mm miniatures and other brands of 15mm miniatures im looking into getting the terrain then figuring out who to get minis from for games of Force on Force or other similar game systems. I see battle reports and pictures of minis but the infantry from FoW seems so tiny even though i think its the same scale?

It's 15mm scale as regards buildings, but items like hills are scale neutral. They won't work well for larger scales like 20mm etc.

Personally, I like to go down a scale for buildings – ie for 15mm figures, I like 10mm buildings. Ground scale is almost always vastly oversized for most rules, so buildings are also almost always too large. (One manufacturer actually distorts the scale to compensate for this; the vertical is accurate, but the footprint is reduced. Clever idea). Admittedly, there are some in my gaming group that are aghast at such thinking, so I freely admit that it is indeed a matter of preference and taste!

Still, if you look at the trees we all use in our games, they are also reduced in scale height. Oak trees are between 50 and 100 feet high, so in 15mm scale they should be about 150mm to 300mm high. But I doubt most gamers use trees that tall for 15mm figures.

So I personally think 15mm FoW buildings would be ideal for 20mm figures…except for skirmish games like Force on Force, because for skirmish games, the ground scale should be very, very close to figure scale, so the actual footprint size of the building often does matter. But if you're playing a game wherein a stand is a company and terrain is therefore merely a representation of a village or town, and not purporting to be an actual building like in skirmish games, I'd go for the FoW terrain.

so if i'm intending to use rebel minis for games of force on force what would you recommend for terrain?

Well, if I were to buy those 15mm Rebel Minis figures (and I have some; they're rather nice) for playing FoF, I'd definitely get the 15mm FoW terrain, since FoF is a skirmish game.
