How do you base you Pirates?

Individually on washers? Or small groups, based on MDF.
Do you just throw down some white glue and sand or do something more involved?

I would love to see some examples.

Individually on 20mm square card bases (corners clipped)
Acrylic texture paste in a sandy colour. Wash of earth brown, dry brush with cream colour, a few small bits of static grass

Does the base can 'arrrdly be seen at all, matey.

Individually on washers. Washers painted tan and covered with sand. I think some of them did get some acrylic paste so there was no obvious break between figure base and washer.

Individually. I use Firelock Games figures that are supplied with integral cast on bases that are intended to be painted and used without additional basing.

Gorgeous casts, by the way.

I love your figures, Flashman. You are a talented painter!

I base my pirates out of a good harbor, with access to fresh fruit and water. Nearby timber helps for repairs.

I use pennies as well, arrrghueably, one could also used washers, bits o' meta;, wood, cardboard, whatever – one pirate per stand…

Pieces of Eight

I'm thinking doubloons, reals and pieces of eight would work as well.

I am currently contemplating rebasing all my pirates and western gunfight figures onto clear acrylic discs.

I've been thinking the same lately. The flood gave me a chance to start again.

Dan,

It makes sense, doesn't it? When they could equally be placed individually on ships, boats, sand, grass or in buildings.
