I did not see a date for publication.

"We hope you will agree that we've done so: when Rebels and Patriots is released in early 2019, you'll be able to judge this for yourself!"

Look interesting.

"The aim of the game is to roll some dice and move some models in a Horse and Musket battle game inspired by American history between 1754 and 1865, enjoying yourself as you do so."

C'mon, if they maintain the same or similar random activation mechanics as is their current range, it won't work for me or my area's group.

As with all the Osprey rules in this series, I have mixed emotions. With each set that I have bought and played I find that I can poke holes in each set big enough to drive a herd of elephants through; however, each has been good for a quick play and an enjoyable game. I will buy these and give them a go as well.

A good friend made this point once (this in ref. to FOW, but), as gamers we'll accept the idea of investing good money and lots of hours researching, and painting up some miniatures collection (or adding units to an already existing one), but then set aside ourselves only a few hours to "roll some dice and move some models" around.

Seems almost backasswards?

Flip side – I had another friend comment during a recent game – "Dave, we've been playing 3 hours!"

This has my attention. Mersey's other sets are great.
And I would really like to see how he handles ACW. Other ACW "big skirmish" sets simply do not do it for me.

The question is: Will it replace M&T for me for AWI?

Glad you like it my friend!. (smile)

Rebels and Patriots….so who are they fighting?

arthur181522 Feb 2018 6:27 a.m. PST

Perhaps the title refers to the attitudes of the Americans, rather than the British?

AWI Rebels call themselves Patriots; Loyalists/Tories think THEY are the Patriots because they fight for King George.

Alamo Rebels against Santa Anna are either patriotic Mexicans who hate his tyranny or Americans who will become heroes to patriots of new state of Texas; Mexican Army think they are the Patriots of Republic of Mexico.

ACW Rebels see themselves as Southern patriots; Union see themselves as patriotic citizens of USA.
