Sorry people, I posted a question about this regiment to which one person replied (plus some glitch where a modern warfare post appeared in the thread) but now the whole thing has gone.

I saw a reference link to this regiment having blue breeches instead of white (a reference to having been formed from an earlier Kurrassier regiment). Does anyone know anything more about this, like a primary source or other verification?

Cheers,
John

Most of my references imply white trousers for all 6 Austrian dragoon regiments, but I did find one source that stated blue breeches with the explanation below as to the origin of this regiment from a cuirassier regiment

PDF link

Recruitment: Bohemia and Moravia. 1 Depot (Res.) Sq
n. Brig. de Baut at Chrudim under Riesch and Loudon
. It began with 921 men and 805 horses. It was raised as new regiment in 1802 thanks to the Oberst Division of the disbanded Czartorisky Cuirassier (the memoir of this Cuirassier origin remained in their blue trousers).

Both sources are identical, Enrico Acerbi, best is to ask the author

Thanks for the advice. I've done so and sadly, he has confirmed that the information is probably an error and that they would have worn white like the other dragoons. Disappointing but I'd rather be accurate.

Cheers,
John

Interesting source but I have not previously read or seen reference to Austrian dragoons with blue trousers. There is an excellent chart available for the progression of the Cuirassiers and dragoons that I will offer.

Interesting, but everything I have seen suggests that C/L Regt No2 (Hohenzollern) wore a green coat (1, 2, 4 (and 7) in green, 3, 5, 6 in white). This would fit with your table showing that Regt2 had been in green previously, so maybe that's just an error that has crept in.

Cheers,
John
