I am wondering if anyone has done good book or other coverage on the Syrian civil war?

It is hot history and yet has been going on for a few years, so I'd think that the history books would being published around now.

Best bet for now would be the Syrian Civil War page on Wikipedia. I wouldn't write a doctoral dissertation on it, but it would suffice for wargaming purposes.

How far back are you willing to go? Because I heard that it started shortly after Noah walked out of the ark.

While only covering a part of the Civil War, it should give a decent primer and explain the weapons and actors involved from 2011-13.
