Although the DBMM list for IV/78 Yi Dynasty Korean allows for IV/73 Ming Chinese Allies, after 1420 the latter only have one troop type with a non-0 minimum. In other words, only that single troop type can be used as allies.

So, would only 3 elements of Chinese mercenary cavalry, plus one general, be all that an allied Ming contingent could provide???

A general + 3 cavalry isn't a legal allied contingent (you need a minimum of a general and four foot or mounted elements), so by RAW no allied continget can be provided at all, despite that obviously being the intention.

An official update or fix being unlikely for the foreseeable future, it's really something to try and agree something sensible with your opponent about.

It's not just that one list. The Italian Condotta list has only 2 compulsory elements, both LH.

Incidentally, since the DBx board seems to have gone bye-byes, has anyone commented on the DBA 3 Condotta list? To have one list to cover all Italian states, including the early Italain Wars period, doesn't reflect the variety found in the armies – the differences between Venetians at home, Venetians in their colonies, Florence's experiments with militia, and others. This becomes glarig when you consider that e.g the 100 YW English has 4 sub lists for what are very minor changes.

The Italian Condotta list has only 2 compulsory elements, both LH.

This is incorrect. All variants except Venetians in Greece have obligatory Knights, and Venetians in Greece have obligatory Bows or Psiloi. Depending on exact variant chosen there may be further obligatories.

The Last Conformist: Ah, sorry, my mistake. I was looking at the DBR list. It might be a misprint (there seem to be a few) but the compulsories are only 2 LH. Big oops!!

On the other hand, there is still an issue with the DBA Condotta list, which does not seem to provide the variety of options that the DBMM list would. As the following list is English HYW, with its four sub periods, then the shoehorning of the Italians into a single list becomes quite glaring.
