Hi everyone:

There are many terrain mat manufacturers and I'm a little overwhelmed so I need some help. I need a wargame mat with 2" grid with a 2" grid superimposed over the surface. Since these mats can be bulky or heavy to ship, I'm looking for a US retailer. Can anyone recommend a manufacturer?

Thanks,
Matt

Cigar Box can do any of their mats with squares.

Both above suggestions are good ones, but don't get hung up on the mat vendor being in the US. I suggest looking at all of the vendors and choosing the combination of material, background image, and grid you like best.

I've been very happy with the service and products from Deep Cut Studio in Lithuania. The last (very large) custom mat I ordered cost €15.00 EUR to ship, and after a couple weeks working out the specs in email, the mat took about 2 weeks to print, ship and arrive at my house. Shipping costs and turnaround time on off-the-shelf mat designs are probably lower. I've been playing on the Deep Cut Studio mats of other people for a few months, and they're very durable and attractive.

I like Gamematz pro mats. Very nice and durable. Also they have the ability to print the the square grid you want. Use there mats almost all the time now.

I have used Hotz mats and have had no problems. They do have a 2" square grid.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I will look at the vendors from above and compare prices/specs.

Looks very nice, but a lot of gamers don't like their terrain being "pre-determined" for them. I want a basic mat that I can place the terrain on as I see fit.

Holz mats come in plain and with terrain. You pick out the mat and then determine what pattern (hex or square or none) will be put on the mat. I am using it for air battles with a 3" hex with a sea mat and a basic Europe mat.
