First of all, my condolences: it's every gamer's nightmare. And yours seems to have been a particularly bad case. Too late now, but I've heard many times that waiting for dryer humidity and then spraying again with another varnish (I recommend Model Masters/Testors) will make the frost go away. At any rate, you fixed them well. They look great! |

I sympathise – I've had this with acrylic matt varnish. I tend to stick to enamel varnish now and avoid doing it on damp days and definitely don't varnish outside like I used to! |

I have found that brush on gloss varnish will remove the frosting. Then Matt when it is totally dry. I only use brush on Matt varnish and get the figure and varnish to about 21 degrees centigrade first. |

I never realized humidity is so important to varnishing before… |

+1 for getback's solution. I had the frosting problem due to spraying on a high humidity day. I brushed on gloss varnish and the next day resprayed the matted finish. Worked well. |

Humidity is the enemy of spray varnish. |

This is the exact reason I bought an airbrush. Got tired of frosting so I now seal with brush on matte varnish run through a $10 USD airbrush. I just started using air brush primer too and I'm starting to get the hang of the Iwata Neo I bought a a while back. |

Cotton swab. Mineral spirits. Dab, don't scrub. |

Never got the varnishing right, when using spray cans. Now I go either for airbrush varnish or just a brush. Best results are when I use a first layer of gloss and, when dried, a second layer of Matt Varnish. My favourite varnish is from Marabu. |

I found painting over it with olive oil worked well. Afterwards you can wash the remaining oil off in warm soapy water and 're-varnish when dry if you want a second shot at it. The big advantage is your not adding any more layers to the problem. |

Condolences. Luckily never had this happen to me. Did you think about returning the can to GW store for a refund? Perhaps a good idea might be to do a very small test batch on something expendable (could be anything?) before varnishing the actual minis? |

GW is not renowned for their charitable actions Lonkka. In any event, it's in the trash now.. may it rot away.. You're right, I think in the future, I will test out all my varnishing before committing it on my minis. |
